Kitchen Wood Modern
Along with the kitchen, we had to create a unit to separate it from the dining area, with storage on the dining area side. It had to match the kitchen and existing furniture. The customers wanted to separate the two rooms, but without completely cutting off their future kitchen. The customer does a lot of cooking, she wanted large storage spaces and a lot of (granite) worktops. A mid-height dining area to seat 4, units with sliding opening, internal drawers, a roll-front unit, LeMans trays in a corner unit, an American-style refrigerator, a raised dishwasher, a raised microwave hidden, if possible, an oven, also at mid-height, a designer extractor hood and two undermount sinks with a draining board. NB: As this was the 2nd kitchen wed designed together, I had a better idea of what they were looking for.
A concrete post to the left of the unit separating the two rooms.
After working on a number of possible solutions, we opted for this arrangement because it was the only one that provided enough storage space and work surfaces, and on the living room side, the wall units perfectly matched the style of furniture and the future fireplace. As we planned out the project, the customers were quickly reassured about the spaces dedicated to their future kitchen. By changing a few dimensions without making substantial structural changes, they could see the kind of layout I was proposing.
