Kitchen Matt Contemporary
My customers wanted to move their kitchen to the main room and include a large wood-framed partition wall to separate the future kitchen from the living room. They wanted a kitchen that was user-friendly, bright and warm, with plenty of colour (definitely not white unit fronts), with storage space, a 95 cm-high worktop and a breakfast bar.
The main issue was the large number of openings and the lack of wall space, especially since I had to include a 90-cm range cooker and a 90-cm American-style refrigerator, making it hard to add storage space.
We decided on quite a compact U-shape so that everything would be within easy reach. We used contrasting colours and materials, choosing a slate-grey finish for the unit fronts, a 20 mm-thick white quartz worktop for the kitchen units and a 60-mm laminate oak-colour worktop for the breakfast bar. To lift the whole effect, my customers chose an orange colour for the rear wall together with the glass splashback.
